There are a few very good ways for a
small enterprise to do business with the Federal Government.
But for the Service Disabled Veteran owned business
(SDVOB), a new vehicle for Information Technology firms
has emerged. Besides the GSA Schedule, the Government
Services Administration has brought forward the Veterans
Technology Services (VETS) Government-wide Acquisition
Contract (GWAC). Initiated by Executive Order 13360,
dated October 21, 2004, the Government has established
its commitment to providing much needed support to those
entrepreneurs with service connected disabilities over
0%.
The VETS GWAC is a SDVOB set-aside designed to provide
worldwide IT solutions to federal agencies while assisting
agencies in meeting their three percent SDVOB goals
with pre-qualified industry partners in one easy to
use contract vehicle. VETS GWAC is a competitive multiple
award, indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity, solution
based contract. Some of the features and benefits of
the VETS GWAC are:
- Competition occurs at both the contract and task
levels. A minimum of three contract teams are selected
in two categories each
- Task orders are expected to be issued beginning
Spring 2006
- There is still time to make contact with potential
teams of SDVOB and small business contractors
GWACs are solution based contracts
- Task order awards are not subject to protest
- Hardware, software, and services may be purchased
as part of a total technology solution
- Team partners and subcontractors may be added after
contract award
And, this contract offers advantages to pre-qualified
service-disabled veteran-owned small business by providing
up to $5 Billion in task orders over a maximum of ten
years. SDVOBs may compete with a smaller group of contract
holders, allowing self-marketing opportunities and a
chance to develop their business before moving into
larger acquisition environments.
Teams are forming now, and EZGSA can help our clients
with understanding the GWAC RFP and furthering their
own business development efforts. |
